American Studies Alumni Association Established

December 2, 2007

The American Studies Center held an organizational meeting on Sunday, December 2, to establish an American Studies Alumni Association.  Ten people responded to the invitation and the meeting was held at the residence of Helen LaFave, U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer.  A slate of officers was chosen including Amal Sorany, President, Yusra Al-Husseini, Vice President, Ruqaya Fathalla, Secretary, and Bushra Al-Sayegh, Treasurer.

The first item of business is to establish a database of alumni, currently 43 people, with addresses, email, phone numbers, etc., so people can be notified of activities, receive the ASC News Magazine, and learn how they can contribute to the society.  Another important item will be the contribution of alumni to the ASC 10th anniversary celebration in May.  Finally, the group pledged to support the ASC through various publicity measures. All who attended indicated how much their time in the ASC meant to them and how crucial it was to their education.
