Computer Curriculum Specialist
For the last four years (1992-1996), I worked as a computer curriculum specialist at the department of Curricula Development at the Ministry of Education in Bahrain. I was solely responsible for introducing computers in Bahraini public schools as a subject and as an educational tool. I put short term and long term plans for this purpose. In addition, I set guidelines for the computer curriculum and co-author computer curriculum textbooks. I set the computer hardware specification and the software to be bought for schools every year. I follow-up and train computer teachers on new releases of different software as well as co-design training programs for 250-300 teachers from different subject areas each year. Also, I designed and programmed educational software and guided other teachers in designing their own educational software.
Eisenhower Fellowship
In March 1996, I had the privilage to be invited to the Eisenhower Fellowship in the US. For two months I toured the US (11 states and 20 cities). I visited universities, technology research centers, technology training centers, attended conferences and most exciting of all are the 15 schools I visited. The schools were of all levels and specializations and I was amazed of how well technology was integrated in their curriculum and classroom activities.
